At the start of my mentorship with Riso, I felt lost with my art practice, not confident in my skills and how to apply them. The past two months have been transformational - both in the way I see my art and the direction it's taking. Riso's guidance, practical art knowledge and words of wisdom have pushed me much further than I would have expected, and I am now filled with excitement about making art and experimenting along the way.

I first took a class with Riso shortly after discovering her work. I admired her use of colour and form, and was interested in evolving my own portraiture. I was hooked after I took her class on Introspective Portraiture and have taken 'Bring Play Into Your Work' and her Colour class. Her teachings are theoretical while being accessible and fun. Her honest guidance perfectly pairs with her encouragement to have fun and develop your unique voice. Riso openly gives everything to her classes and students. I am a stronger (and grateful!) artist for it.

I've been taking Riso Chan courses and mentorships since 2021. In that time, I have learned how to approach my art from a place of enjoyment where I can connect deeply with my process and my subject. Every time I take a new class with her, I feel my art blossom and my level of observation keeps growing so fast thanks to how caring and thoughtful she is. As a teacher and as mentor she creates a safe space for artists to learn more about themselves and to express their true message in their art.
